Megan and David’s Wedding Day at Downingtown Country Club

I had met Megan and David earlier this year to discuss photographing their wedding day. I was very excited about their wedding because they were going for a holiday theme. Megan and David’s wedding was last night and it was clear by Megan’s choices she truly captured the feeling of elegance and Christmas.

The Downingtown Country Club was lit beautifully with Christmas trees and holiday trimmings. The DCC has one of my all time favorite locations to pose a bride on. They have a fantastic stairwell that has the best gentle curve that is right out of a classic southern mansion. But it really comes to life this time of year when they decorate the banister with evergreens, pine cones and white Christmas lights.

Bride, Bridal PartySo it was too easy to take the lovely Ms. Megan and her bridesmaids and pose them along the banister. Megan’s gorgeous wedding dress accented with a cranberry red satin sash looked radiant with her bridesmaids. I have to admit I love the look of bridesmaids dress that all match, but the style is actually different. I think it allows each bridesmaid to look and feel her best while still being unified within the wedding party.

I did make it over to hang out with the groom as well. I have to admit David was very cool and calm for a man about to get married. Of course, being surrounded by good friends helps I am sure. We had a pretty good laugh that between myself and the rest of the wedding party there were a lot of  “David’s”  in that room. David and his groomsmen struck some very handsome poses and weren’t camera-shy at all. They looked fantastic in their tuxedos with matching vest and tie.

I had  a great time photographing David and Megan’s Wedding and I wish them a lifetime of happiness. If you would like to contact me about photographing your wedding please do not hesitate to contact me for a free consultation.

Jonathan Redford’s Photo Shoot

Jonathan Redford by David James

Jonathan Redford is pursuing his musical dreams . . .

My friend Jonathan Redford is an amazing talent. I first met him when he came to work at QVC about three years ago, I could tell he was a bundle of energy and a true “everyman.”  Jonathan would probably fit the term that is so overused and somewhat watered down in today’s jargon but he is a true renaissance man. Jonathan seems to be just as comfortable with a guitar as he is a hammer. Plus at the end of the day he can argue sports or economics with the best of them.

It would seem music is his true calling. Jonathan has sung and performed his entire life, he comes form a very musical family. In fact his dad is probably one of the most famous composers you probably have never heard of BUT I know you have heard his music! He has written and composed so many movies and television shows, I can not list them all here. So there is no surprise that Jonathan inherited his own musical gift. He has developed his own sound and has produced some great music. In fact, you check out his album on his website.

Last year Jonathan married the love of his life Tracey. They are truly a match made in heaven. Plus Tracey is a talent in her own right. She carries a multitude of dance, acting and modeling that has carried her from professional cheerleading to national tours. In fact, at the time of this blog. You can see Tracey in the Walnut Street Theater’s Production of  “Grease”. These two are incredibly supportive of each other and their prospective careers.

Jonathan and Tracy’s Engagement Photo

Soon after they got married, Jonathan Redford made the decision to pursue his music full-time. He is concentrating on his new album which focuses on his and Tracy’s love and the beginning of their life together. I have only heard a few bits and pieces of his songs. I had him play a few while we were shooting some promotional photos. He needed a few new photos to use on his facebook, twitter and website galleries and I got a sneak peek at the new music. It sounds great!

We discussed the concept of the music and what he was hoping to achieve in the “look” of the photos. We also

discussed the album cover and hopefully we can shoot that concept soon. (It involves fire so we may have to acquire permits or, at the least, a fire extinguisher!) The promo photos we shot on location in Downingtown, PA. It is in one of my favorite rundown buildings. We wanted to showcase a “joy coming out of darkness”. I think we did a great job of showing the happiness coming out of ruins or sadness. It was a great shoot and I look forward to working with him again in the future. It may be a few months because right now he is off in Los Angeles working on a Huge  TV proj. . . (Ooops, I’v said too much already!) Let me paraphrase, “He is on his way . . . literally!

The Anderson-Goodrich “2nd” Wedding . . .

It was a short and sweet ceremony. Nicole and Jamie got married at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Downingtown this past Saturday. Nicole reached out to me about three weeks ago to photograph their second wedding! “Huh?”, I know, let me explain. Nicole and Jamie were married in Arizona just a month ago. That was considered the big ceremony. But, as you know, being a couple from two different states can be difficult to arrange for all the families to be together. So our happy couple was nice enough to get married again for the relatives here in Downingtown who could not make the flight to Arizona.

It was a fairly easy “yes” from me. I liked Nicole the moment I met her. She is another down to earth bride that is a true pleasure to work with. On the day of her wedding, when I met her fiancée/husband I could see these two were truly complimentary to each other’s personality. It’s clear they both like to smooch and have no problem “puckering up” for the camera . . .or any other time. I love how “in love” these guys are in with each other.

It was a very blustery day so doing a lot of photos out of doors  had to be kept to a minimum. Let’s face it, the saying of “Something blue . . . “ should not refer to the bride’s skin color. We were able to get many photographs during the ceremony and some really nice moments afterwards. On a side note, they are going to be one of the last couples to marry at St. Joseph’s in Downingtown. Their new church should be completed by next Spring.

Many congratulations to Nicole and Jamie and I wish them many happy years together.
