Bouche Wedding Show at Penn Oaks Country Club

I recently had the opportunity to attend one of my favorite events. The Bouche Wedding Show at Penn Oaks Country Club in West Chester, PA. These wedding shows are always a blast because I get to meet so many of you wonderful brides. The only problem is that these events go by so quickly! I wish I had more time to chat with each and every one of you! Since time is at a premium at these events, I always follow up with an email and newsletter. That way we can reconnect after the madness of the event has subsided a bit and you can remember all of the people you met.  The Bouche wedding show at Penn Oaks Country Club was jam- packed with activity and many vendors from the area. One of the things I always appreciate about the Bouche wedding shows is they limit the number of vendors per category.

So the brides get to see a well rounded selection of all vendors and it keeps the event from being lopsided with “only” caterers or florists. For me, I love coming to these wedding shows because I can meet so many brides, and quickly share my wedding photography vision with you. I always have information on-hand to give out about my rates and the packages I offer. Also these events are a great time to see the latest trends and what is available to customize your wedding with in the area. Believe it or not sometimes the wonderful ideas you see on Pinterest or on another wedding site might not be “do-able” in your area. The Bouche Wedding show at Penn Oaks and other local areas can help you to envision what is trending and obtainable in your local area. I love being a wedding photographer in Chester County and these shows give me an opportunity to show you what I can create for your special day.

Save the date photo shoot with Becca and Dan

engagement snow, save the date

I scheduled a save the date photo shoot with Becca and Dan recently. I don’t typically schedule save the date photo sessions because the engagement session photos are typically used for any “save the date” flyers or post cards. But Becca and Dan had a small dilemma. They really want to shoot engagement photos at Gettysburg College. As you know from my past posts, I am a big believer in engagement photos for couples. So I want to accomodate Becca and Dan’s request. Becca and Dan met at Gettysburg and it is a very special place for them. The problem is, it is winter and the save the dates need to go out at the first of the year. So what I offered is to schedule a save the date photo shoot with Becca and Dan now, then schedule the engagement session at Gettysburg in the Spring.

We booked a time to shoot the photos recently and I chose Springton Manor Farms for the shoot. Well, on the big day, IT SNOWED! This is not typically a problem, except our original plan was to create a series of “evergreen” photos that did not relate the time of year. But now with snow on the ground , it was clear this was going to have a winter theme!

Springton Manor looked absolutely gorgeous and I am glad we embraced it. As you take a look at what we were able to capture please keep in mind it was about 30 degrees with a wind chill of 20 degrees! I am very proud of what we were able to create in a very short amount of time. Oh, and a big shoot-out to Becca, who was wearing a dress!

Basically, I came up with a plan, shared it with Becca and Dan and shot as quickly as I could to minimize their exposure to the elements. They did great! We were able to get some amazing shots that I know will be well received by their friends and family. Honestly, one of the photos I took ranks in my top 10 of all-time favorites. So if you are lucky enough to receive a save the date from them please keep in mind that the save the date photo shoot with Becca and Dan may have been done in freezing weather but clearly their love for one another warmed the day!

Noah and Jen’s engagement photos

engagement, noah, jen

Here is where you will find Noah and Jen’s engagement photos. Noah and Jen are getting married in October of next year. They wanted to get in an engagement shoot during Autumn. Photographing couples in fall is one of my favorite style of shoots. There are just so many different emotions and feelings that fall represents. Noah and Jen love the outdoors so I focused on finding a location that is woodsy and just screams “Autumn” when you see it. Unfortunately, if you know anything about weather in Chester County, PA. It can be very unpredictable this time of year. We originally scheduled a time for Noah and Jen’s engagement shoot for October. A big rainstorm ruined that idea and we had to reschedule for November. One of the logistic issues we have is Noah and Jen live in Virginia. No worries though! We had a great time yesterday because, besides the wind (I think I saw Dorothy from the “Wizard of Oz” fly by) we were all set. Except for one thing, most of the leaves have been blown off of the trees. Again, I say, “No Worries!” We scheduled the shoot at E. Carl Kohler park in Ambler, PA. Originally this beautiful park was chosen because of a pretty lake and gazebo they had there. But the leaves were gone and that space looked a bit bare. So we walked into the trail and found a great area, that because of its central location, was virtually untouched by the wind and had a great Autumn feel. Of course there was a playground nearby and Jen could not resist jumping on the swings. Noah got to push but chose to pass on swinging for the day. We were able to get some great engagement photos utilizing the leaves and surrounding tree stumps and branches. Take a look at Noah and Jen’s engagement photos below and you tell me if they had some Autumn fun!

Vance and Marie are a very special couple. Because they have been together for many years and (finally) decided to get married! They were married at Duling Kurtz B&B in Exton, PA. It was truly an honor to have photographed Vance and Marie’s wedding day. It was simple, elegant and full of joy.

Bowling Bride!

bowling balls

I am very excited about a wedding I have coming up soon. Because after the ceremony and reception at the Downingtown Country Club the wedding party is heading over to the bowling alley! Ok, so you should know one thing about me. I love to shoot fun photos for my brides. I have never done a bowling bride photo before but I am surely looking forward to this one.

When the bride and I were discussing the reception, she mentioned the bowling event afterwards and of course, I was very excited! She asked if we needed to adjust the start/finish time of our agreement and I said, “absolutely not!” This is a “strike” (forgive the bad joke) for both of us. It should be a lot of fun and I promise to post pics after the wedding.
